Yesterday concludes the sixth annual Once Upon a Time Challenge, hosted by Carl from Stainless Steel Droppings.
This challenge is special to me because last year’s Once Upon a Time was the first reading challenge that I ever participated in.
Even though I didn’t read as much this year as I had initially planned, the Once Upon a Time Challenge introduced me to many new bloggers and books, making it a complete success!
I had initially planned on reading some short stories, but I ran out of time. Here are the books that I did manage to read:

Carl’s challenges are always excellent. There’s also the RIP (Readers Imbibing Peril) challenge in the fall that centers on gothic/horror/dark fantasy/mystery themed books. 🙂
Wow, it sure seems like you read a lot to me! Carl’s challenges always seem to be fun, regardless of our completion rate, though.
Well, I was going to do the challenge that involved short stories, but I ran out of time and didn’t get that far. I did read a lot of novels though! 😀
You were so prolific. I wanted to read more but haven’t even finished my second book, Solstice Wood.
Altough the vent is over, I will not have to stop reading fantasy.
I was somehow much more in the mood for dark fantasy and didn’t want to cheat.
Carl’s events always make me want to explore specific genres a lot more than I could feasibly do in a couple months’ worth of time.
Dark fantasy is something that I’d definitely like to read more of. Do you have any suggestions?
I don’t really know where to draw the line. I though Neil Gaiman is dark fantasy. Kelly Armstrong is and basically all the vampire-werewolf novels with some exceptions. Karen Moning’s series. Fun but stll dark. There are so many. I’m not the best for suggestions as I’m still trying really,
