And the winner is… *dun dun dun dun*

Congratulations to Skye from Book Rain for winning the traveling Catcher in the Rye giveaway.  I chose the winner using a “draw straws” application that I found on Google.

In other news, I am still mourning the loss of Borders, but that loss has been somewhat tempered by the stack of new books that I acquired at one of their liquidation sales this morning.  For some reason, I find the word “liquidation” to be highly amusing, likely for immature reasons.  My “Coming Soon” page has been updated to reflect these new acquisitions.

One of the books that I picked up is for another readalong that I’ll be participating in come August.  The book is Brandon Sanderson’s “The Way of Kings,” which is the first novel in a new epic fantasy series.  Sanderson is the author who finished Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series after Jordan himself died.  I’ve heard good things about his writing in general.  “The Way of Kings” is a fairly large book (over 1000 pages), and I’m excited to start!

  1. That’s good to know. I’m still thinking about the next group read. I’m worried since I will be in the middle of a move. But I like the virtual book club.

  2. Congrats Skye! So are you doing the group read for The Way of the Kings?

    • Yes, I am. I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted to, but some friends have read Sanderson’s work with “Wheel of Time” and really enjoyed it. I like doing group reads; it’s like a virtual book club!
